I have game ideas but not sure what to do with them

I've had a few different game ideas I've thought of over the years for all different types of genre games but i don't know what to do with them.

I'm honestly useless when it comes to making them myself, I've tried all different stuff and I can't get myself to focus enough to do it all myself.

Is there anywhere you can just sell ideas or maybe a way to be hired just as an idea person? lol

You will have hard time selling ideas, nobody wants your ideas, publishers wants finished products, try unity

The GDNet Comments, Suggestions, and Ideas forum is the wrong place for this question. Moving to the Career Advice forum since you mentioned the job of “idea person lol.”

You can't just sell ideas - nobody will buy them. Read https://sloperama.com/advice/idea.html and https://sloperama.com/advice/lesson11.html

There is no such thing as an “idea person” job, either. Do you have a college degree? How old are you? What's your current occupation? (If student: "student.") Might you be suited for a game industry job, like QA tester, Marketing, project management? I suppose not, huh, since you say you have a focus problem. Where do you live?

You should write your ideas down, in detail, and get yourself to focus enough to join some indy teams and learn about the process of game development. See our Hobby Project Classifieds board.

Sorry dude, if you have ideas but no way to make them happen on your own, and you haven't documented them before, than you got a long road ahead of you if you want to be in game dev.

You wouldn't go to a book publisher or a movie maker or a music producer and say, “I have an idea for a book. movie / song. I've never bothered to write anything down and I haven't learned any skills to make it happen”

Why do we mix all those together, and suddenly you have an idea man.

There is really only one position in game dev that is anywhere like an “idea man” meaning you sit back and others do what you say and implement your ideas. that is called a CEO of a company.

If you don't have the skills to put your ideas down on paper and can't focus, maybe this industry isn't for you. Maybe fate and God have another plan for your life?
