Demos, Magazines and Ratings

I've noticed that game magazines are now using ESRB labels to rate the contents of demo CDs. Does this mean that these magazines will no longer accept unrated games for distribution on their demo CDs? Edited by - chronos on February 21, 2002 7:39:36 PM

8 of the 9 PC Gamer demo disks I have handy have one (or more) demos with a rating of ''rating pending.''

Does that answer your question?
It depends on what "Rating Pending" means. If it means currently unrated and possibly to remain unrated, unrated games are okay. If it means currently unrated but waiting for a rating from the ESRB, unrated games might not be okay.
There are also plenty of shareware and freeware games distributed on those disks. Those aren''t generally rated.
