The contents of a demo

I''m planning to make a game programming demo, I have numerous ideas, and about 4 to 6 months of weekends and evenings to create it. I want to use this demo to land an entry level game development job at a small or medium size company. My question is this: Would employers be more impressed with a small, simple but fully playable game demo (like 3d asteroids) or a more ambitious, complex technology demo (like a rigid and soft body physics engine)? I''m especially interested in opinions from professional game developers and employers, but all input is welcome.

Stick with a simpler, more complete demo. What''s attractive to a potential employer is showing that you have the drive to see something through to completion. Stuff like uber-complicated demos and technology maybe gets a raised eyebrow, but unless you have a company specifically searching for a tech guy, don''t bother - because if they are, they''d better not be looking for someone entry level

i agree. put together a complete game. You will find yourself (like me) being one of the few people that has completed projects before (however small) and this is a very very rare and valuble resource for games developers.
