I know that Windows programming is a must to be able use DirectX. I am learning how to make a window and the GDI, what else should I learn to do? Will it be helpful if I start learning MFC or is that a wate of time?

Don''t try learning MFC yet, it is good for developing tools, not very efficient for games because its architecture is just slow and wasn''t meant for games in the first place. To help you out with Windows/DirectDraw programming, check out my tutorial site, www.darkfusion.f2s.com

Learn as little as possible, you don''t need much windows stuff to use DX and well, you don''t gain much from knowing the GDI functions when using DX anyway
