How to constrain text in javascript

I am trying to create a text adventure, but long strings don't span multiple lines. They simply make one extremely long string, which is hideous. How would you avoid that?

I am an indie game developer who enjoys pixel art games.

They will span lines if you change certain style value of your whatever container for text you have. It should be overflow and text-overflow
