Just entering games development business - what kind of wage can I expect?

I'm looking to start working in games design and was wondering what kind of wage I can expect? I'v seen very few estimates but they all seem to be low 20s, which would leave me at about £1500 a month after tax according to this wage tax calculator. Is there anyone here that can give me some more solid figures? I'm quite close to London - would it be worth commuting in if I can get a better wage, despite the costs?

Sorry if this isn't the best place to post this, mods feel free to advise/move if there is a better place :)

Cheers!

What position? Different members earn different wages.

See https://www.gamasutra.com/salarysurvey2014.pdf  and  https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2017-04-03-an-industry-driven-by-passion-not-pay - there's a new survey underway, but its results aren't available yet. Not sure if it'll have up to date salary info, or if it's about job satisfaction.

She said design, but as we know, a lot of people think that's a catch-all term for game development....
