You shouldn't feel guilty. After all you're using the DirectX api aren't you. Which has got loads of functions already done for you

I was going to write my own functions and stuff to load and copy bitmaps, but then I remembered ddutil. Are there any disadvantages to using this? For some reason I feel guilty having all this work already done for me.
I agree with guest. I would just make sure I knew what the functions do so I could fix them if need be. When I found them, I went through and added a few more features that they didn't have, but the basic code remained the same.
