DirectSound Mixer Flaw?

Ever tried to play around four samples at once (looped or whatever) through the DirectSound Interface? Sounds ok usually, but i've noticed when you mix certain types of samples (even with the same freq etc..) such as very bassy sounds like an earthquake effect or a phatt drum beat, the sound quality becomes static and is VERY noticable sometimes!
Anyone know of a way to overcome this problem?

Try it for yourself using the Directx SDK sample program Dsshow, and load a VERY bassy sound mixed with a couple of voice or high hat sounds.

I've heard what you're describing; I'm suffering through the same thing.

If I solve it I'll let you know.
