Isn't the pitch of a surface in DirectX dependent on the users video card? If that is the case then I would think that the pitch never changes for that one user no matter what game they are playing.

Hi, I would like to know if it is possible for a program to change the pitch of a directdrawsurface when the program is running......

Yes the pitch is based on how the images is stored in video/system memory, I presume in system memory, the pitch would always equal the width as there is lots of space to play with?

But in video memory the card tries to squish as much gfx as possible into it's ram to it moves the images around and doesn't necessarily store them as they are displayed.
