Hmmm... More on time-critical... Thinking.. Maybe make it possible to have the same outcome, but at different times and with different elements. Say, you have a rotating month where you can do a ritual with the corpse of a phoenix under a full moon... Or, you can do it with the blood of a virgin under a new moon . That way, if the player misses out, they can choose to wait around for the next opportunity (seeing as they probably already have the required ingredience) or they can quickly try and get the new ingredients for the newest available time. Hmmm..

Off topic:
Don''t you notice that we always have threads where we are alternating in posting... Wierd eh?

Yeah, dwarf, not bad at all...
Also, maybe there could be some situations where if you do a ritual at the wrong place, or something in the equation is very wrong then something disasterous could happen. Kind of like The Ninth Gate (cool movie BTW).

Yeah, we do often post alternatively...then eventually there's a point where I'll say Thief is a good game. Then you'll say yeah it is. Then we are out of stuff to say.

Also, I wanted to add to my previous thread that perhaps some info that the character gets about what components and what places and times things must occurs the info could sometimes be wrong. Like people could either lie or just be incorrect...Same w/ books they could be incorrect intentionally or not intentionally.

Or maybe there should be differing oppinions on what should be used... That way the player must make the decision. Would be funny if each suggestion in itself was wrong, yet a combination of the two was correct

and yeah - I hate dragging a topic when there is nothing to say

Hehe, that could lead to some interesting battles. Like say halfway into the game, the boss-guy (or whatever) is actually about 20 times weaker than the rest of the bosses, but he is really nasty because he is so far away from any power-up stations. So you would actually be very weak. Heck, you could totally eliminate the entire enemies-get-stronger-as-you-progress thing by simply making the distance between charge-up stations greater and greater and greater.

Weirdness.

Good idea, but don''t forget the fun. Trekking back to a recharge ground over and over because you haven''t found another refueling station would be dull. This would require some careful balance if it was required for even the simplest spells.
yeah, but that would influence exploration of the world. To find new and perhaps different fueling stations that offer recharging of different spells. This is assuming that you want to infulence exploration of course

How about crystals which you can charge at these manna sources which will hold manna longer than you can yourself? Or cantrips which can be used without manna so you are not completely defenseless?

BTW, when Nazrix and Dwarfsoft are alternating posting it can get really hard to follow. (Those colors . . . head spinning) Kind of freaky really.
