Will be meeting with Mark St. Jean (and company) of 'Wasted Ink' (an indie development team in MA) for dinner tonight, and to talk over a possible internship with EDIGames.

From what I have read it seems that Wasted Ink has been having some troubles, with management of thier team, so I assume that they would like some pointers on how best to manage a team.

My answer to "how do i create and manage an indie development team" is pretty much always going to be.

1. Have a concrete product idea
2. Find dedicated members
3. Work, Work, Work, Work.

Obviously these are easier said than done, and need elaboration (and other details such as how to keep a dev team going as it passes through phases), however, if the head of the development team has all of these qualities (vision/direction,iron-clad dedication, supernatural work-ethic), then it is likely that a game will be created, weither or not it will sell is another story.

I am looking forward to meeting these guys and seeing how I can help them with thier goals.

You should see if there are any local igda chapters or somesuch in the area. I'd like to lean more of the Boston/MA game-making scene (And I'm sure they'd all like to meet and drill you with questions, haha). This is W----man, by the way.

ah, ya scurvy lubber, where you been?

yeah, the meeting went well, they will be doing some intern-work for EDIGames in the very near future, in exchange for learning how to 'get things done' =)

Work, work, work. One job, one prospective business and a hobby project take a toll on one's time. And that's only the programming aspect of my life!

How're things at your job? (I don't have to ask about the game ;))
