Jargon

Just wondering. Am I the only person who doesn't understand the great majority of the jargon out there nowadays? First-person shooters seems to have spawned a language unto themselves. I can't even go to QuakeWorld anymore without seeing official news announcements along the line of.

"Ya know, I was playing UT on Blagg's kEwL BorgBox with a G3-Force BurgBlaster V7 under Linux with KernelMod 2.21 which allows for 37% more gibs at the same framerate at 1600x1200 that you would get on the ATX ChoadMaster 10,000 with the Logitech Force Feedback Gnorgphftzter. It rOoLz."

I think I'm officially getting old. I managed to stave off old age for a long time, and I was well ahead of the curve for a lot of trends (I read Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles when it was still just a comic, and I saw the original Ren and Stimpy at an animation festival years before it hit TV), but I've been resting on my laurels and can't keep up anymore. Pokemon didn't do anything for me. Quake III: Arena with bitchin' bots and gobs of gibs just doesn't do it for me anymore, and a lot of the Penny Arcade cartoons just go over my head.

Nobody's asked me to do a retrospective of my greatest hits for the GDC, so I guess I'm still safe.
