Relief rivers

Because relief maps are so much more interesting to look at, here is a composite of 4 images showing mountains with varying levels of erosion overlaid with their corresponding drainage maps, generated as detailed in the previous entry:



I'm working on possible schemes for enumerating and naming the various rivers procedurally.

You know, I've thought about doing something TA-ish sometime, but the mechanics of a Z-axis in a top down view boggle my mind.

Yeah, once they hit the perfectly flat lands the algorithm breaks down since it's a neighbor-visiting approach that tends to visit neighbors in the same order each time. Luckily I'd never have perfectly flat terrain in any real application of the process.
